• Story time at the farm, and other fun things

Calling all preschoolers, it’s story time!

We’re excited to introduce our first preschool story time at Jako Farm– Thursday, May 16 at 10:00am,  We’ll gather under a tree for farm stories, crafts and play, and a JakoPure snack. (And let’s be real honest, this is for you, too.  There’s a tea pot and moment of peace waiting.)  Bring a sack lunch if you like, and stay for a picnic after story time!

Our complete story time schedule for the summer will be available soon…

Toward a ‘plastic bag free’ farm

We’re working to eliminate plastic at Jako Farm, one step at a time.  The first step?  Replacing plastic bags with reusable cloth bags.  They’re not for sale, just for you to use!  Take as many as you need, just keep returning them for the Jako Farm community to share.  (A big thanks to Grandma Judy, who made all the bags!)

    Nursery numbers

There is hopping and cheeping all over Jako Farm!  There are currently 23 baby calves, 106 baby lambs, and twelve hundred baby chicks at Jako Farm, and they’re still coming!   The baby calf pictured above is Valda.  Other heifer calves born this spring were Uno, Vera, Zella, Zenia, and Zoe.

    Cheese curds are back!

With fresh milk comes fresh cheese, and that means cheese curds!  Get ’em when you see ’em…. they’re so popular we can’t keep them in stock.  If you’re driving from a distance, call Robyn (620-663-1470) to make sure they’re available!  We are making them as fast as we can.
