Perfect meat for the fire or grill

Whether your grill-fest is high class (steaks and pork chops) or family friendly (burgers and brats), we’ve got you covered.  Jako meats are nutrient dense, pastured, ethically raised, and free from all those nasty additives.  Our family loves the pork or beef link sausage as an alternative to brats, and we even sneak them along to other parties when everyone else is having hot dogs.  Find all of the above options in the farm store, in addition to a pre-cooked beef link option for littles with short fire-roasting attention spans.

    Butter oil makes a comeback

Raw, only-grass butter oil (ghee) is now restocked in the farm store in 4-oz, 8-oz, and 16-oz jars.  Butter oil is made by heating butter very slightly to remove all milk solids, leaving behind only the oil.  Butter oil is fantastic for high-heat cooking, as it has an extremely high smoke point of 450 degrees (compared to olive oil at 325 degrees and lard’ at 370).

Signs of winter’s approach on the farm

The Canadian geese are flying south in great honking V’s, the caterpillars’ coats are thick, dark, and wooly, and the bald eagles that hatched a nest last spring have returned to Jako Farm to nest again.  The animals’ coats are thickening up in the pasture, and all of this in an intricate dance of seasons that all of the animal world knows by heart.
